(The stage is lit with a strong, but cold, light. Ely enters walking with a firm step, erect, head held high. She looks imposing, self-assured, as if nothing could bring her down. She walks to the center, stops, looks straight ahead haughtily… but little by little, her gaze fades, and her voice changes. She begins speaking loudly, ending with a broken voice.)

ELY: (Firm, powerful, confident voice)

Everyone is afraid of me. They either respect me, fear me, or simply know that I'm not to be trifled with. From a young age, I learned that if you don't take control, the world will take it from you. And me… I never let anyone tell me what to do, how to think, or who to love. I'm the one who makes the rules. I'm the one who decides who comes in and who goes out of my life. With the rest of the world, I'm fire, I'm in charge, I'm the one who sets the boundaries and shakes the ground if necessary. No one dares to contradict me! No one dares to hurt me…

(She pauses, lowers her gaze, clenches her fists tightly, as if fighting against herself. Her voice changes, becoming softer, trembling, vulnerable)

(She takes a step forward; she is no longer the same strong woman she once was; now the immense weight she carries is evident.)
