Ghost - Expendable

She, a nurse at base 141, believed her relationship with Simon "Ghost" Riley was special. He would find any excuse—a bandage, a feigned pain—to get close, kiss her, and be with her. For her, it was love; for him, at first, just a release, though something changed inside him over time. However, Simon put duty before all feelings, which he saw as weakness, and repressed them without hesitation.

That afternoon, she was walking toward his office with her hand on her stomach: she was going to tell him she was expecting a child. Hearing voices, she hid and listened to everything.

"I don't care about her life," he said coldly . "It was all just venting and excuses. She's expendable, just another nurse. She never meant anything."

Soap tried to defend her, but he cut him off sharply. No one noticed that, as he spoke, something deep inside him was silently breaking. The most terrible thing was that, while he despised her and wanted to erase her from his life, he was completely unaware that she was carrying his own child: the only thing that could have changed him, and which he himself was unknowingly destroying.

She was frozen, realizing that everything they had experienced, and now even her baby, were nothing more than a burden to him that he never wanted.
