Reynar and Hadrian

The story began on Summer Sun Day, Asterian's biggest holiday.

Every year on this day, nobles, merchants, and guests from other lands flocked to the capital. The streets were decorated with flowers and ribbons, a feast and dancing took place in the evening, and the royal family appeared before the people in the main square.
That year the holiday was special.
The princess was turning seventeen.
From early morning, the castle was bustling with activity. Servants were preparing the banquet hall, musicians were tuning their instruments, and nobles were rushing to present gifts.
Leonard, Kai, Raynar, and Hadrian gathered in the castle courtyard before the festivities began. They joked, reminisced about childhood pranks, and argued about the upcoming knight's tournament, which was held more for the entertainment of the guests than for any real competition.
But all conversations suddenly ended when the princess appeared in the courtyard accompanied by her mother.
For a moment, even the noise of the celebration seemed to die down.
The first to break the silence was Reynard, who, as usual, made some joke, and Adrian immediately noticed that his friend looked unusually confused.
Leonard just chuckled as he watched his friends.
He didn't yet know that this very day would mark the beginning of a long story. A story in which his best friend and the royal secretary's son would each try to win his sister's heart in their own ways, while trying to maintain their friendship.
But none of them suspected that this ordinary summer holiday would be remembered for many years to come.

The Kingdom of Asterian

Amidst green valleys and high mountains stood the kingdom of Asterian. For many generations, it had been ruled by the Arden dynasty.
The king was Edric Arden, a just and wise ruler respected even by neighboring states. His wife, Queen Eleanor, was renowned for her intelligence and diplomatic talent.
They had two children. The eldest son was Crown Prince Leonard, twenty years old, the future king. And the youngest daughter was a seventeen-year-old princess, the only princess in the kingdom.
Since its inception, the royal family has been protected by the Valmor family. For hundreds of years, each new heir of this line has become a knight of the crown. In the current generation, this honor has been bestowed upon the twins Kai and Raynar Valmor.
Kai was calm, serious, and sensible. Reynar was more cheerful, bold, and adventurous.
Another of the king's trusted men was his secretary, Albert Morvain. He served the crown almost his entire life and was considered Edric's most trusted advisor. His son, Adrian Morvain, who would one day succeed his father, grew up at court with him.
Leonard, Kai, Raynar, and Adrien had been best friends since childhood. They trained together, studied together, and practically grew up like brothers.
