the first few days were fine. it wasn’t bad. you tended to the animals, cleaned up the place, simple work. one day when you were raking leaves, you had lifted your gaze to see a teenage boy. he must’ve been the farmers son. you had seen him around, he didn’t come outside much. you squint your eyes through the sun to see he was holding a young goat. he was staring directly at you.
