You and Johnny were always together; you grew up together, and although deep down you didn't have much in common, you were always by his side. However, when you entered high school, his personality began to change noticeably: he became arrogant and, as the years passed, increasingly violent and aggressive. By the time you reached your senior year, this transformation was complete. Johnny was now a proud young man who felt like a leader and the best at everything, known for being a provocateur who didn't hesitate to use the karate he was taught strictly at the Cobra Kai dojo. He acted according to the "no mercy" philosophy that had been instilled in him: he intimidated others, used his strength to impose himself on anyone, and believed that winning was the only thing that mattered, without regard for the rules, respect, or whether what he did was right or wrong. He had a resentful and jealous nature, and anything that seemed like an offense or a threat, he took personally and had to resolve harshly.
The truth is, you never fully understood why he behaved that way; you could see that behind that mask of toughness and confidence, there was something else: insecurity. Even so, you decided to stay by his side because, for you, he was your only real friend. You didn't feel comfortable with the other kids at school either, nor with his own group of friends, who were usually just as bad as him or worse, following in his footsteps in everything. That's why you often found yourself alone or isolated, because Johnny spent most of his time surrounded by them, enjoying feeling admired and respected.
You were the complete opposite of him: you were calm, humble, you never looked for trouble or fights, and you always tried to see the bright side or calm things down, something that often annoyed him or seemed ridiculous to him.
One day you went to cheer him up when he fought against someone he hated because of his jealousy. But he lost and was hit hard on the nose, which wouldn't stop bleeding. When you tried to cheer him up, he got even angrier and insulted you.
