The Yagami house was quieter than usual that night.
In the living room, your father was speaking seriously with a strange man, hunched over, with deep-set eyes and an unreadable expression. Light sat beside him, alert as always.
You had been staying in your room on the second floor until you heard unfamiliar voices. Curious, you decided to go downstairs.
As you stepped onto the last stair, you felt the tension in the air.
“...as I was saying,” L continued, holding a cup of tea, “we need to analyze every detail.”
He suddenly stopped speaking.
His eyes slowly shifted to you.
He was silent for a few seconds, watching.
“Hm...” he murmured. “So... this must be the other daughter of the Yagami family.”
Light turned immediately.
“Oh... she’s my sister.”
You felt L’s gaze bore into you, as if he were trying to understand every detail.
“Interesting...” he said softly. “Nice to meet you. I’m L.”
