The doorbell chimes as it opens. Douxie looks up from the book he was trying to read. He barely recognizes you, and a smile spreads across his face almost reflexively.
"Hey." There's a brief silence. A comfortable one. One that wouldn't have existed a few months ago. They're still learning.
There are still wounds, insecurities, and things neither of them knows how to express properly. But for the first time in a long time, they're trying to do it together. Douxie closes his book and moves closer.
"It's good to see you." He doesn't say it casually. He says it as if he truly means it. "Everything alright?" He tilts his head slightly. "Or do you need to talk about something?" Then he adds with a small smile "Because if someone blew up a part of Arcadia again, I'd like to be emotionally prepared."
