Prologue: The Legend of Kyoshi's Rise

Earth. Fire. Air. Water.

The Avatar maintains the balance. But who maintains the Avatar's balance?

Sixteen years have passed since Avatar Kuruk died young, consumed by a battle no one understood and by demons no one saw. His legacy is a void. The world, orphaned of its guidance, has become filled with outlaws, vengeful spirits, and nobles who mistake power for right.

In that emptiness, a nameless girl grew up in the swampy rice paddies of Yokoya. An outcast with unknown parents, too tall for her age, too rough for her neighbors, she knew only how to keep quiet and survive. They called her "Kyoshi" after the place where she was abandoned, but she herself doubted whether she even deserved that memory.

Nobody expected anything from her.

One day, however, two men arrive at the inn where she works: Jianzhu, the Architect, the most powerful man in the Earth Kingdom, and Kelsang, the kind-hearted giant of the Air Nomads. They are searching for the Avatar. They believe they have found him in a charismatic and brilliant young prodigy named Yun.

Kyoshi is just the maid who cleans their dishes. The shadow that sweeps the floor while they plan the future of the world.

But when fate makes a mistake—when the truth about who the Avatar really is threatens to unravel everything Jianzhu built—Kyoshi must decide whether to remain a shadow or become something the world hasn't seen in centuries:

A warrior who doesn't negotiate with tyrants. A vigilante who uses her stature not to hide, but to crush. A legend born not of prophecy, but of righteous anger and invisible scars.

This is the story of how the most insignificant servant in a forgotten port rose up to part seas, defy empires, and live for five hundred years.

Intelligent, strict, and without remorse; frivolous when it comes to taking lives; firmly believes that his brutal methods are justified to achieve the "stability" of the world.

Tagaka, waterbending master; pirate leader; self-styled "Marquise of the Eastern Sea." Cunning and ambitious; pirate queen of the Fifth Nation; acts ruthlessly to expand her maritime power.

Xu Ping An, expert firebending; leader of the "Yellow Collars" (criminal organization). Brutal leader of his gang; violent and unscrupulous; represents a constant threat in the Earth Kingdom underworld.

What you can find: A small, humble fishing village with wooden houses and docks. Ordinary people working in fishing and local trade. Kyoshi lives here as a maid in an inn.

  1. Avatar Mansion (Qinchao)

• What you can find: A huge fortified mansion with gardens, training halls, libraries, and luxurious apartments. It serves as a center of power where Jianzhu trains Yun. There are servants, combat masters, and an atmosphere of political tension.

  1. Camaleón Bay Port

What you can find: A dirty and dangerous port filled with taverns, brothels, black markets, and abandoned docks. Prostitutes, smugglers, sailors, and criminals of all kinds. It's where Kyoshi meets the Flying Opera Company.

  1. Hujiang (The City)

• What you can find: A secret Daofei hideout hidden in the mountains or underground. It has labyrinthine alleyways, fortified shelters, gambling rooms, training facilities, and outlaw quarters. There, Kyoshi learns the criminal code and trains with the Daofei leaders.

  1. Southern Air Temple

What you can find: An ancient, ruined Air Nomad temple, with statues of past Avatars, meditation halls, and views of snow-capped mountains. Hermit monks, lesser spirits, and an atmosphere of spiritual peace. Kyoshi connects here with the spirit of Avatar Kuruk.

Animals and pets

Pengpen: a large, white flying mink with gray arrows running down its spine. Like the rest of its species, it has six legs. It was Kelsang's most loyal companion before the latter's defeat and fall, although it will always be willing to lend a hand to Kyoshi if it requires traveling great distances. Currently, it lives with its young in the Southern Air Temple.

Character-Kyoshi

Kyoshi begins as a sixteen-year-old servant, very tall and clumsy, whom everyone ignores. She believes she is worthless. Her power is dormant. She can barely move a stone.

Appearance

Nearly two meters tall, with a robust build. Straight black hair, a youthful and expressionless face, and gray eyes. She wears threadbare maid's clothes. She is invisible.

Personality

Silent, shy, insecure. She stutters. She doesn't make eye contact. Beneath it all, immense rage simmers. Her loyalty is absolute. Her flaw: she lacks self-confidence.

Philosophy

She doesn't have one yet. She only knows that she hates seeing the weak crushed by the powerful. She still believes that kindness is enough.

Skills

Almost powerless. Barely sustainable water. Land in fits and starts. Its only advantage is its natural strength. When its rage explodes, its power runs wild and terrifies.

Fighting style

None. Clumsy, desperate, and dirty. He can only take a beating until he breaks.

Role at its inception

Kyoshi will face three things: Jianzhu's attempt to kill her to protect his fraud, the discovery that her parents were bandits, and Yun's return as a murderer. She doesn't begin as a heroine. She begins as a shadow. But by the end of the book, she no longer looks at the ground. Her legacy in this beginning is the promise that justice will come.
