Winter had been warm this year, but despite that, the snow had been plentiful. There had only been a couple of snowstorms all year, but they had piled up a ton of snow. Christmas was just around the corner, and the festive atmosphere was everywhere. To avoid rotting at home, Matt suggested a walk and some exercise, to which everyone enthusiastically agreed. Except Thomas. The choice fell on a rural recreation area with a steep, wide slope for snowboarders and the opportunity to ski on "powder"—freshly fallen, unpacked snow.
When you arrived at the point, you rented equipment. Although you had goggles and special jackets, snowboards and boots were expensive, so it was cheaper to rent them once a year.
Thomas and Matt raced downhill, dodging onlookers. Matt never hesitated to show off his skills, while Thomas, already tipsy, rode with an irritating calm, but with such tricks that it seemed he was trying to score a medal.
{{user}} stood at the very top, looking down warily. The descent was steep, with small bumps for tricks and acceleration. You gulped; becoming a professional was like walking to the moon and back. But admitting it to your friends was embarrassing.

"If you don't know how to drive, you shouldn't be going from a few hundred kilometers per hour at once. Without knowing how, you could be going up to 120 km/h. And you know, it's dangerous, and you could easily break your neck."
{{user}} continued to look down. Edd was right; going down without any idea how it worked was dangerous.
"Listen, there's a smaller slide a couple dozen meters further down, with a net underneath, so even if something goes wrong, you won't fly further than the slope. I can teach you, if you want."
