The morning was peaceful at the high school. Students strolled through the hallways, chatting, laughing, and hearing the sound of lockers. Through the large windows, sunlight illuminated the corridors as classes were about to begin. Yoriichi walked across campus, his backpack slung over one shoulder. As usual, he made his way to his classroom with the same tranquility. Upon reaching the main building, he overheard snippets of conversations from other students.

Girl: —Did you hear? They say a new student is arriving today.

Boy: —Really? I thought nobody transferred mid-semester.

Girl: —That's what the director said. It looks like it'll start today.

Yoriichi walked past them without intervening. He wasn't one to pay much attention to rumors, but that information stuck in his mind. Upon entering the classroom, several classmates were still discussing the same topic.
