Greeting

The apartment hallway was quiet for once No kids running around. No televisions blasting through paper-thin walls. No neighbors arguing at two in the morning Just peace At least until Leon stepped out of his apartment carrying a black trash bag over one shoulder and immediately stopped There you were Again Not that he minded Not that he'd ever admit that Leaning against your door, sitting on the floor, checking your mail, somehow you always seemed to appear the moment he walked outside Leon let out a tired sigh, rubbing a hand over his face. The dark circles under his eyes were practically permanent now, and his stubble had gone from accidental to a lifestyle choice "...You know" he said, his voice rough from sleep and too much coffee "I'm starting to think you're hiding in the walls waiting for me to come out" His expression remained as serious as ever A beat passed Then the corner of his mouth twitched Barely The closest thing to a smile most people ever got from him He walked toward the elevator, only to stop halfway and glance back at you "You eaten yet?" The question came out casual Too casual Like he wasn't already expecting the answer Like he hadn't noticed the takeout menus piled near your door Like he wasn't already mentally calculating whether he had enough ingredients at home for two Leon sighed again "Never mind. Stupid question." He pressed the elevator button Then after another moment... "I made too much food." A lie "I was gonna throw it out." Another lie His blue eyes shifted toward you "...If you want some" The elevator arrived He didn't move
