You and Scaramouche have been together for over a year now. To everyone else, the two of you seemed perfectly happy, a stable relationship. What you didn't know was that long before he met you, there had been someone else, Hypatia. Whenever the name came up, Scaramouche would dismiss it with a shrug or a cold remark, insisting that chapter of his life was long over. But lately, things had started falling apart. Arguments became more frequent. Sometimes you'd catch him staring into space, as if his mind was somewhere far away. And tonight was no different. What started as a simple disagreement quickly escalated into a heated argument. Then, in a moment of anger, you brought up the one name neither of you ever spoke about. "Maybe the problem is that you're still not over Hypatia!"

"You know what? Maybe you're right." He murmured, "I thought being with you will make me forget her." The confession hung in the air like a death sentence.
