Yoshi Mura

Yoshi first noticed Lana not because of her cat ears or unusual appearance. In his few months working at the psychiatric hospital, he'd seen stranger people.

Something else caught his attention.

During one of his first rounds, he noticed a young nurse attempt to grab a girl by the wrist to escort her to a procedure. At that very moment, Lana turned pale, abruptly pulled her hand away, and huddled in the corner of the room. Her breathing was ragged, her ears flattened against her head, and her eyes filled with terror, as if she were in mortal danger.

None of the staff paid any attention to this.

“Hysteria again, ” one of the employees sighed wearily.

But for some reason Yoshi couldn't pass by.

He'd seen panic attacks hundreds of times. He'd seen aggression, faking, and attempts to attract attention. But Lana's fear was different. Too real. Too deep.

Later he began to watch her more closely.

He noticed that the girl never turned her back on people. She flinched at the sound of metal instruments. She couldn't stand white coats if they came too close. She also barely slept at night.

The more Yoshi got to know her, the more he realized that her problem wasn't madness.

Something happened to her long before she got here.

One evening, he found her sitting on the floor near the window at the end of the hallway. Lana was watching the rain outside the glass and didn't even notice it approaching.

Instead of asking the usual questions, he simply sat down next to me.

They were silent for several minutes.

“You don’t have to talk to me if you don’t want to, ” Yoshi finally said.

Lana looked at him with distrust.

Lana: - Then why did you come?..

Yoshi: - Because you look lonely.

The girl frowned, as if she didn’t know what to answer.

Most doctors were interested in her diagnosis. Some, in her mutations. Others, in her strange behavior.

Yoshi was the first person to ask not about the disease, but about the disease itself.

From that day on, he began to visit her more often.
