Hookfang is a dragon of the "Terrible Beast" breed. Hookfang's body is covered in scales. His head is elongated. The Terrible Beast's gigantic, elongated mouth can hold five sheep at once. It is lined with sharp white teeth protruding from the lower jaw, two of which are four times longer than the others. His tongue is elongated, with two tips. Above the front of the mouth are nostrils, which serve as the respiratory organ. Between them is a sharp black horn. Above the back of the mouth are rather large, oval, yellow eyes with black vertical pupils, set close together. The eyes are almost completely covered by skin. Behind them are two long and two shorter, curved horns, which possibly spread and become straighter with age. The head is connected to the body by a long, thin neck. A strip of long, curved, flat spines extends from the neck to the tail. They are dark at the base and lighter at the tips. The spines increase in size towards the back and tail. The dragon's wings extend from the sides of the body. On their upper surface are spots and two claws. The rear ends are pointed. The wings are adapted for both flight and walking. Two legs extend from the sides of the pelvis. They are curved in two places. At the back, there is a row of five sharp claw-like appendages. On the foot are five sharp claws: four in front and one on the side. The tail is long and thin. The lower part of the body and feet are duller, while the upper part and paws are brighter. Patterns from dark purple to bright red are possible. Krivoklik's rider is Snotlout.

Sausage is a Gronckle dragon. Sausage's enormous mouth is lined with thick but sharp white teeth. The lower jaw teeth protrude from its closed mouth, including two large fangs on the side of the jaw. The tongue is large and wide. Slightly above it is a rounded projection with small nostrils on either side. Even higher are two closely spaced, round, yellow eyes with black, narrow, vertical pupils, covered in folded skin. Behind the eyes are two small, vertical projections with membranes, resembling ears. Behind the head is the body with two small wings and four legs. Each wing has a single claw. The back of the wings is pointed. Each leg has four claws and a single curve. Behind the body is a club-like tail, consisting of two bony, spherical projections covered in skin. The dragon's back, tail, and chin are marked with brightly colored bumps. Its belly is white or gray, and its wings are brighter. Meatlug's rider is Fishlegs.

Bars and Vepr are dragons of the "Pristegol" breed. Bars and Vepr are one dragon with two small heads, one named Bars and the other Vepr. Their mouths are lined with razor-sharp white teeth of varying lengths. Their thin tongues have two tips. The teeth of the lower jaw protrude from their closed mouths. On the nose of each head is a bony horn with two nostrils. To the right and left of the horn is a single yellow eye with a small black pupil. Behind the eyes are two sharp metal horns. The heads are connected to the body by two thin necks. The body is quite wide, due to the presence of two heads and two tails, with four small paws (two on each side). Each paw has four claws and a single curve. Two wings, extending from the upper sides of the body, are small in comparison to the body. They have a single claw each and small holes at the pointed rear ends. It has a thick tail, which splits in the middle into two thin tails with a "spike" at the end. A ridge of small, semi-oval, vertical scales extends along the dragon's body, starting from the dragon's head, running down its back, and ending at its tail. The upper part of the body may be patterned. The belly and the lower part of the head and neck are dull. Bars's rider is Zabiyaka, and Boar's rider is Zadiraka.

Stormfly is a dragon of the "Evil Nadder" breed. Stormfly's body is covered in scales. A haphazard array of white teeth adorns its mouth. Some are sharp and thin, others less sharp and thick. Slightly higher up is a bony protrusion—a backward-facing horn with nostrils. On either side of this protrusion are two yellow-red round eyes with vertical pupils. Behind them is a "crown" of bony spikes of varying lengths. A strip of smaller spikes runs along its back. The wings extend from the sides of the body. They each have a single claw. The back of the wings is pointed. Oval patterns may appear on the wings. The legs originate from the sides of the dragon's pelvis. Each has four claws and a single curve. The tail is studded with numerous sharp spines, skin-colored at the base and white-brown as they reach a point. These become more numerous at the tip, and the tail loses its original color. The belly and lower jaw are white. Like all dragons, Deadly Nadders have a unique outer shell. One of its characteristics, common to all dragons, is fire resistance. Thanks to their armor, Deadly Nadders can easily withstand the fire of other dragons. This armor also helps these dragons survive falls from great heights. Female dragons also have beaks, while males lack them. Stormfly's rider is Astrid.

Toothless is a Night Fury dragon. Toothless has a black coat, smooth, round scales all over his body, and green eyes with shape-shifting pupils, like those of cats. His head has eight appendages that act as ears. He also has smaller appendages, known as "beauty appendages," which become more numerous as he matures. Toothless has a strong chest, a short neck, and small wings. All of this allows him to achieve incredible speed in flight, including vertical dives. This legendary dragon, like Toothless, has a rider named Hiccup.

Zabiyaka has blond hair, brown eyes, and is 20 years old. Zabiyaka has a twin brother, Tuffnut. Zabiyaka and Tuffnut share a single dragon, a "Zabiyaka" dragon breed. It has two heads: the first head is named "Bars" and the second is named "Vepr."

Tuffnut has blond hair and brown eyes. He's 20 years old, and he also has a twin sister, Zabhuka. Zabhuka and Zabhuka share a single dragon, a "Pristegol" dragon named "Bars" (one head) and a second named "Vepr" (one head). This dragon has two heads.

Snotlout is a short, dark-haired, blue-eyed man of 20 years old. He has a dragon called "Terrifying Beast" named "Hookfang." He falls in love with every girl.

Astrid is a beautiful, 20-year-old, blue-eyed, blonde woman with a curvy figure. She has a dragon named Stormfly, a "Nerd." She is Hiccup's best friend and has a crush on him.

Hiccup has dark brown, slightly tousled hair. He's 20 years old. Hiccup is handsome and has a Night Fury dragon named Toothless. He has his own crew: Astrid, Fishlegs, Snotlout, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut.
