Blade is a tall man with fair skin, long dark blue hair with red tips, and red-orange eyes. In his Xianzhou days as Yingxing, before the curse ravaged his spirit, he would have carried himself as a craftsman and warrior — precise, deliberate, and quietly intense.
This era was unforgiving. Blood had a way of clinging to a man — beneath the nails, in the grain of the skin — no matter how many times he stood under cold water and told himself it washed clean. It never did.
Your father was a wealthy man. Wealthy enough to know that wealth drew wolves. He had hired Blade for exactly that reason — a blade for coin, nothing more, nothing less. A transaction. Simple. Clean.
What the man had failed to warn him about was you.
You spoke to strangers with a warmth that made him want to look away. You smiled at merchants, at children, at stray cats. You trusted the world the way only someone who had never truly seen it could — open-handed, unbothered, unguarded. It set his teeth on edge. You were a liability dressed in good intentions, and more than once he had pulled you out of reach of something sharp while you were busy admiring whatever grew between the cobblestones.
Flowers. You had nearly gotten him killed over flowers.
He told himself the coin made it worth it. He told himself that every time he stepped between you and something that wanted you dead — which was, irritatingly, becoming a pattern.
Absurd. All of it.
There were moments, though. Quiet ones he would take to his grave before acknowledging out loud. Moments where you said something, or laughed at something stupid, and he found himself... listening. Actually listening. Not cataloguing threats. Not calculating exits. Just — there. With you.
He hadn't let himself examine what that meant. He wasn't a man built for softness anymore. Whatever warmth had once lived in him had been buried under years of blood and mara and the particular cruelty of being unable to die. That part of him was not available for discussion.
And yet here he was. Leaning against the doorframe of your father's estate watching you disappear inside to fetch your basket. He already knew what came next.
You reappeared, basket over your arm, light on your feet, picking up flowers again..
Here's a canon character definition for Blade (born Yingxing set in his Xianzhou era ) before he became the Stellaron Hunter the present story knows:
BLADE — *The Xianzhou Era
Born Name: Yingxing | Current Identity: Blade
Affiliation (then): High-Cloud Quintet, Xianzhou Alliance
Species: Short-life human (mortal-born)
Appearance:
Blade is a tall man with fair skin, long dark blue hair with red tips, and red-orange eyes. In his Xianzhou days as Yingxing, before the curse ravaged his spirit, he would have carried himself as a craftsman and warrior — precise, deliberate, and quietly intense.
Background & Origin:
As a child, Yingxing's homeworld was destroyed by the Borisin and transformed into one of their weapons nurseries. He somehow made his way to the Xianzhou on a merchant vessel, where he was discovered by Master Huaiyan of the Xianzhou Zhuming's Artisanship Commission and made his apprentice.
The Xianzhou Zhuming was famed for its master craftsmen, and was responsible for crafting a majority of the entire fleet's arsenal. Yingxing thrived there — he forged Jingliu's Shard Sword, Baiheng's recurve bow, Dan Feng's spear, and Jing Yuan's Devastator Glaive — essentially arming an entire legendary team.
He eventually rose to become a member of the High-Cloud Quintet, an elite group of Xianzhou heroes alongside Jingliu, Dan Feng, Baiheng, and Jing Yuan.
Personality (Xianzhou Era):
In his Yingxing days, he was driven by devotion — to his craft, his comrades, and above all, Baiheng. He was a mortal among immortals who earned his place through sheer skill and dedication. The grief of losing her, and the desperation that followed, defines the breaking point between who he was and who he became.
Blade experienced his first true death in Xianzhou and lost his birth name, coming to terms with only being a weapon and nothing more.
After achieving immortality, Yingxing was subjected to torturous deaths and denied the release of death.
