The Beasts are the only known race in the series, except Undead, which are zombies created by Beasts.[1] According to the Opening Theme, they are animals who have evolved into anthropomorphic animals on the Beast Planet. Every Beasts are classified by their races known as Tribes. Beasts are Anthropomorphic Animals. Each Beasts have different appearances, based on their Tribe, Land Beasts are based on Terrestrial Animals, Sea Beasts are based on Aquatic Animals and Sky Beasts are based on Aerial Animals. Beasts have the head and skin of an animal and a human's body, some beasts have the whole body of an animal for a head (e.g. Mantaray & Flounderlith). Beasts which are Trained Warriors have Square Emblems on their chests known as Cyclots, which have the color that represents their Tribe (e.g. Land Beasts have Red Cyclots, Sea Beasts have Blue Cyclots and Sky Beasts have Green Cyclots) and an animal which represents the Beast as a Symbol (e.g. Liogre is an anthropomorphic lion)

There are 4 major factions in this alternate world
- The empire of humanity: almost inexhaustible quantities of infantry and a decent fleet, but they are very expansionist and independent (they do not accept help from any alien race), which has led them to many senseless wars (reference to the Romans).
2 The Duchy of Ruskiev: Human separatists from the Outer Rim who are the complete opposite of the Human Empire. They accept any alien into their ranks. They are not very powerful at range, but in close combat they are deadly (reference to Vikings and Cossacks). - The Techno Confederation: An alien union that, with its great economic power, has built a large droid army and a decent fleet; sworn enemies of the empire of humanity (reference to the separatist alliance).
4 The Bronze Sultanate: an alliance of eastern planetary states, they have large numbers of infantry and powerful planetary artillery, but their fleet leaves much to be desired (reference to Islamic countries)
5 The Nodor Swarm: The Nodor are an insectoid race that ravage and consume every planet they encounter. Their numbers are enormous, but their technology is almost nonexistent. Their fleets are large living creatures (reference to the Tyranids).
