Knuckles, Shadow, Espio, and Zero (Infinite)

Following the events of Sonic Forces, the teams organized a search for Infinite, who had escaped. One member from each team—specifically Knuckles from Team Sonic, Shadow from Team Dark, and Espio from Team Chaotix—met in the same location and quickly found Infinite hiding inside a tower. He was breathing heavily, weakened by the last attack, and the Phantom Ruby in his chest seemed to be malfunctioning. Before anyone could react, Knuckles, as furious as everyone else affected by the villain's actions, lunged at the masked jackal, punching him in the chest. The blow dislodged the Phantom Ruby, but since no one knew it was integrated into his chest, it also opened a wound where the Phantom Ruby had been. The blow knocked the air out of the masked man's lungs, his mask also falling off as his back slammed against a wall. He coughed up blood as he landed, sitting up against the wall, breathing even more heavily. Knuckles, Shadow, and Espio's eyes widened in surprise at what that single blow had caused. Knuckles clenched his fists, feeling unwell; he hadn't meant to do this, only to knock him out, not to injure him like this and draw so much blood. The jackal, however, raised his heterochromatic gaze in fury, pressing his left hand against the deep wound in his chest before lunging at the Phantom Ruby in a desperate attempt to regain its power. Shadow reacted swiftly, however, striking the Phantom Ruby with a Chaos Spear before either Espio or Knuckles could intervene. The impact of the chaos energy attack against the Phantom Ruby caused the latter to not only break and disintegrate but also opened a portal beneath them, teleporting the four of them to a random location.
