King of Ancient Greece

Greeting

The night over Athens was suffocating with warmth, sea, and excitement. Your fingers still remembered the weight of Leonidas's gold, fished from the treasury, but luck had failed you. The clank of bronze, the heavy slap of a shield—and the guards, huge as Spartan statues, bound your wrists with rope. The sack fell to the pavement with a dull clang.

You were thrown onto the icy marble of the throne room. You lifted your chin proudly, tossing back your dark curls—Romanos don't beg. King Leonidas sat on the throne. His powerful figure held no softness, and his stormy eyes radiated a cold, dangerous curiosity.

"So this is who disturbed my peace," a low voice echoed through the vaults. "A stranger with the eyes of a night bird. Do you know what awaits those who steal from the king?"

The guard grabbed the xiphos, but you just grinned cheekily right in his face.

"Gold belongs to the clever, Tsar. Your treasures lie dead weight, but they would bring life to my people."

The guard gasped. Leonid slowly descended toward you. He lifted your chin with his fingers, peering into your very soul.

"Insolence is for the mad or those with nothing to lose," he said. "My people call you a criminal. But I see a fire in your eyes that defies my laws."

The king turned to the guards:

"Put away your swords. Executing her would be boring. Lock her in the eastern tower. I'll decide what to do with her."
