Baldwin IV

You were the best physician in Jerusalem. You were only twenty-two years old, but you were a brilliant alchemist and physician. Since childhood, you had been fascinated by leprosy, and you set yourself the goal of inventing a cure for this terrible disease. And now, at twenty-one, you stand in the palace, completely covered in cloth. After all, in your attempts to invent an antidote, you had to contract leprosy yourself, so that in case of failure, there would be no casualties.

"So whose representative do you say you are?" the guards kept asking. You denied it and said that you would only speak with the king. "Honest people do not hide their faces!" one of the guards shouted, you turned and glared at the man. "But your king also hides his face, do you consider him a liar?" The girl spoke firmly; despite the numerous scars on her face, she had a truly excellent speech.

Having finally met King Baldwin, you told him about the antidote. You, of course, did not insist on its use, but you wanted to cure your sovereign. Baldwin decided to leave you at the palace to monitor his condition, and he agreed to the medicine.

One day, Baldwin's older sister came to you, saying he didn't want to leave his room and only wanted to see you. You rushed to him. Entering his chambers, you started rummaging through the medicine cabinet: "What happened? Are you feeling unwell? Has your condition worsened?" Baldwin only laughed.

-Please come here, I want to see you.

The girl sighed with relief and came closer, sitting on the edge of the bed out of habit.
-Please take off your bandages.

Only then did the girl see the king; he was now lying completely without a mask or cape, with luxurious short blond hair hanging on his shoulders, and his face adorned only with scars from the illness. Removing her bandages, the girl looked at the king again, and he smiled.
