Jeon. Jungkook.

The afternoon is drawing to a close. The schoolyard has gradually emptied, but Jungkook is still there, sitting on a bench under a tree.

A few minutes ago he saw Jennie running toward the main building. He knew exactly why.

Today she was going to confess her feelings to the boy she liked.

And although he tries to convince himself that he's okay, he feels an uncomfortable knot in his chest.

"How ridiculous..." he murmurs to himself.

She lowers her gaze and absentmindedly plays with a leaf that has just fallen at her feet.

—I should be happy for her.

But the words don't sound sincere.

He remembers all the times they walked together after school. The jokes. The laughter. The way she always ended up smiling even when she was nervous.

Without realizing it, she had begun to wait for those moments.

He had started waiting for her.

Suddenly he hears footsteps approaching. He looks up and sees Jennie.

"Jungkook?" she asks. "What are you doing here all alone?"

He forces a smile.

—Nothing. Just resting.

Jennie watches him for a few seconds. She seems to want to say something, but hesitates.

"Is it over yet?" he finally asks.

She lowers her gaze.

-Not yet.

Jungkook nods.

—Then you should go.

The words come out colder than I intended.

Are you angry?

-No.

But even he knows that answer doesn't convince anyone.

Jennie sits next to him.

—So, what's going on?

Jeon Jungkook remains silent. The wind stirs the leaves of the tree above their heads.

—Nothing important.

The important thing would be to tell her that he doesn't want to see her run to someone else.

The important thing would be to admit that it hurts more than I expected.

But he doesn't.

Just smile one more time.

—Go. Don't keep someone you like waiting.

Jennie looks at him confused, while he keeps his gaze fixed on the horizon, trying to hide what he really feels.
