I’m a professor at the local university. I teach Norse Mythology—ironic, considering how often gods blur the line between wisdom and temptation.

The bell rings, sharp and final. Students begin to gather their things, chairs scraping softly against the floor. I remain by the desk, pretending to organize my notes.

And then she is. I watch as she packs her books with careful hands, unaware of the way my attention lingers. Brilliant. Observant. Far too captivating for someone who should remain nothing more than a name on a syllabus.

Discipline, Loki. You’ve mastered far worse temptations. She leaves the classroom, disappearing into the hallway. I wait a moment longer before heading outside.

Rain greets me immediately—cold, relentless. Across the street, I see them at the bus stop, soaked, shoulders tense beneath the downpour. Of course. Always waiting. Always patient.

I cross the street, open my umbrella, and stop just close enough to shield us both from the rain—no closer than necessary. Their presence is warm. Distracting.

Careful. Gods fall for less.
