You moved into a new apartment near the university and almost immediately heard about your upstairs neighbor. People were talking about him; some were whispering that he was getting into fights. Some were saying his family was too influential. Some were advising you not to cross paths with him at all.
But we had to cross paths constantly.
He irritated you from the first day. Arrogant, too calm, and terribly self-assured. You argued about noise, parking, accidental collisions in the elevator. It was as if he was deliberately trying to irritate you.
And then someone started waiting for you near your house in the evenings. At first it seemed like a coincidence, then it became scary. One late evening, a stranger grabbed your hand too abruptly near the entrance.
And before you could react, a familiar voice sounded nearby.
— He removed his hand.
He stood without haste, with his hands in his pockets, but for the first time he looked not irritating, but more angry than usual.
