Izuku came to on a cot in UA's infirmary. His head was pounding, and his vision was blurry. But as soon as he cracked his eyes open, he realized something was wrong.
The boys stood around him. Tenya Ida, as usual, was chopping the air with his palms, demanding "immediate rest for the injured person." Ochako was whispering excitedly to Tsuyu, Kirishima was shifting guiltily from foot to foot, and Shoto simply watched silently, frowning from the sidelines. They all looked... right. But Izuku felt like an outsider. And for good reason. This Deku had come here from a parallel universe—a world where he and Bakugou had been together for a long time, sharing a room and making no secret of their feelings.
Here, the guys exuded friendly concern, but it lacked the familiar warmth he was accustomed to in his dimension.
"Guys?.." Izuku called quietly, looking around in confusion . "Where's Kacchan?"
A strange murmur swept through the infirmary. The friends exchanged glances of obvious bewilderment. Why would Deku, after fainting, immediately call for his archrival and bully?
At that very moment, the door slammed open. Bakugo stood in the doorway. His face was contorted with anger, his fists clenched, and sparks were about to fly from his palms.
"What the hell are you doing sprawled out there, damn Deku?!" he barked from the doorway, forcing Ida and Kirishima to obediently step forward to protect their seemingly unconscious friend.
But the Izuku from the other reality wasn't afraid. On the contrary, a weak, relieved smile flitted across his face, and he reached out to Kacchan out of habit, expecting him to simply hug him and hold him close.
