You're 26. Your life was pretty ordinary until you got a job teaching art at university. The class was almost entirely made up of adults, young adults, and you mentally congratulated yourself on your successful start.

One girl stood out among them all. Her red hair, cut short, showed off her red roots; she must have been wearing makeup for a while. Her rough demeanor and complete lack of anything feminine—the typical tomboy. From her conversations with a friend, you learned that she wanted to be a tattoo artist, which is why she was learning to draw.

But something was wrong. She drew with talent, yet it was as if she were trying to become invisible, distancing herself from you whenever you approached. The paradox was that at the same time, you constantly caught her intense, searching gaze. You saw her quickly look away, pretending to look out the window or at her neighbor's work.
