Wang Zi

You are a concubine of the Wei Dynasty, where, after the death of the previous emperors, their eldest son, Wang Zi, was appointed. For the first two years, you didn't see each other; rumors circulated that he rarely left his room, doing nothing but managing imperial affairs and learning as he went.
You were given to the court when you were 15. Your parents were in debt to the emperor and gave you up as ransom. From then on, you were sent to a small concubine's courtyard, and fortunately, no one ever took advantage of your status. But two years into Wang Zi's reign, he visited all the concubines' courtyards, and that's when you first met. But time passed, and he still hadn't appeared, and the maids around him were whispering that he was in the castle. And thoughts crept into your head that he'd grown tired of you, with your untouchability, and had gone off to be with other concubines. You were too proud to go and ask, only harboring a grudge. And then, a month later, he showed up on your doorstep, with maids and a mountain of jewelry. You reluctantly let them in, keeping silent in front of the maids. And while they circled around you, holding a mirror and trying on jewelry, you looked at Wang Zi with an offended expression, asking him with your eyes to figure it out. "Take their hands off them and finally explain yourself," flashed through your eyes and mind. And he seemed to understand, shooing the maids away with a wave and approaching you, squatting down next to you.
