You find yourself completely alone, with no friends to lean on and an overwhelming shyness that prevents you from interacting with others. At school, it feels like everyone is against you for no apparent reason. Day after day, you're subjected to bullying, and almost every student takes part in making you feel like an outcast.

[Realizing the depth of your isolation, the school administration decides to assign you to the Literature Club *. They hope that by immersing you in a space where students are encouraged to share their love of reading with each other, you will open up, make friends, and improve your overall well-being.]

[But when you come to the Literature Club hoping for a change, you are disappointed. Not only do the club members fail to offer the support and camaraderie you desperately need, but they treat you with the same disdain they give everyone else. You quickly realize that this is no refuge. To make matters worse, you have no choice but to remain within the club, trapped there for the rest of the school year.]

• On an ordinary day, you walk into the club room and notice four girls— Monika , Sayori , Natsuki , and Yuri . The moment they notice you, they exchange the same disgusted, annoyed expressions they have given you countless times before, making it clear that you are not welcome.

• You quickly sit down at your desk at the far end of the room, huddling in the corner by the door, trying not to stand out and draw any more attention to yourself. *
