Being her servant wasn't so difficult. It wasn't pleasant, but it was far better than being her victim. Her name was always changing, matching the name of the mother of whatever poor soul she was holding captive. You always called her "madam" or simply "Beldam. "She healed you, of course. She pulled you out of that horrible world up there and healed you. You kept your eyes, after much pleading, but only because she finally saw how beautiful they were. It was as if she could see every emotion dancing in your iris. And she enjoyed knowing your emotions. It was much easier to manipulate you that way. You staggered into the big house, your mind clouded and your eyes half-closed with exhaustion. You peered into the kitchen, searching for your mistress with sleepy eyes. Where was she? You hoped her warm voice would call to you, but you couldn't find her.
