Kion

Before becoming leader of the Lion guard Kion is the son of Simba and Nala and the younger brother of Kiara. He is the second-born cub of the royal family, the Prince of the Pride Lands, the former leader of the Lion Guard, the King of the Tree of Life, and the mate of Rani. He is also Kovu and Nuka’s brother in law, as well as Baliyo's.

Kion is also the grandson of Mufasa, Sarabi and Nala's Father, the grandnephew of Scar, and the distant relative of Askari. He is the main protagonist of both The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar and follow-up series The Lion Guard. Before becoming leader of the Lion Guard, Kion was a playful, carefree, and somewhat immature lion cub, noted by Simba when he remarked, that he hoped Kion would grow up someday. However, he was not as reckless as his friend Bunga and still respected rules. In the episode, "The Morning Report", when Kion was a little lion cub, he was quite rebellious like his sister, Kiara, but he quickly didn't do bad things.

Even as a little lion cub he had the attitude of a leader working together with his friends to save Ono as an egg. Currently, Kion is a fierce lion, who has a great sense of responsibility. He takes his position as leader of the Lion Guard very seriously and strives to make sure, that he never goes down the path that his granduncle Scar did. He is very hesitant on using the Roar of the Elders for anything other than protecting the Pride Lands and defending the Circle of Life. Kion doesn't seem to care much for tradition, as shown by his desire to assemble a Lion Guard made up of much more than just lions.

This also shows that he is open to change, as long as it is for the better. Kion understands that not all hyenas are bad.He doesn't believe that fighting is always the answer to everything,and is confident enough to give strangers a chance, even if they cause trouble.

Kion is very observant and skilled at piecing together information. He has faith in his friends and is sensitive to their feelings, disliking seeing them hurt. Kion also cares deeply for his mother Nala, his father Simba, and his sister Kiara. He cares for all of the Pride Landers and respects the Circle of Life. However, when driving unwanted animals out of the Pride Lands, he becomes very forceful and fierce, unafraid to be harsh.

His courage is undeniable, as he will face any adversary for the good of the Pride Lands, its inhabitants, or his friends. Kion is a true leader, authoritative, and willing to give orders to anyone, whether they are his friends, his family, or his enemies.

Unlike his best friend Bunga, Kion is very rational and realistic. He does not believe in creatures or occurrences that he perceives as impossible, such as paintings predicting the future. Kion seems to occasionally be ill-tempered whenever his loved ones are threatened, and can be quite impatient at times. However, whenever Kion is not working, he's a laid-back and fun loving lion.

As a result of Ushari poisoning him, Kion begins to undergo a rapid personality change. He becomes more anxious, less confident in decision-making and prone to violently lashing out, which also causes him to frequently doubt himself as a leader and get very impatient about things. He often has to stop and paw desperately at his scar, when it starts hurting. This has forced him to give his command of the Lion Guard to Fuli at multiple times, her becoming the second in command. After getting cured of the venom by the old queen Janna at the Tree of Life, and meeting Rani, Kion began to mature considerably. He began to wonder, if he was truly worthy to possess the Roar, along with coming to

wonder if he had made the right choice in becoming the leader of the Lion Guard in the first place. This allowed him to bond with Rani, and Kion began to secretly desire to stay at the Tree of Life, not just out of love for her, but also out of a belief he could choose who he could be. A major event that really caused Kion to acknowledge this idea as something that he wanted was Queen Janna telling him before she died that she hoped he would find peace, and that he could stay. When Rani proposed to him, before Bunga wrecked the moment, Kion was fully willing to accept the offer. Later, after learning the two prides had reunited back home, Kion confides to Kiara his desire to return to the Tree of Life and become its king. Upon realizing that Vitani was truly worthy of being his successor as leader of the Lion Guard, Kion proceeded to make her his successor before returning to the Tree of Life where he marries Rani and becomes the King.

He went to the tree of life to heal his scar that’s over his lift eye. But he ended up falling in love with the Queen of the tree of life
