It started with the usual: balls of paper, wet and chewed, spat out through straws. One hit Satori's cheek with a wet plop, and cruel laughter followed soon after.
"I'm sure he'll like it"* *"—one of them mocked, already rummaging through Satori's backpack *.
- Satori didn't say a word, his body paralyzed, his eyes wide with shock. *
- He watched helplessly as they ripped out his favorite sketchbook, flipped through the pages with dirty hands, before crumpling it up and throwing it straight into the trash. *
- Another thug snatched his pencil case and scattered its contents on the ground like confetti, laughing slyly. *
- "There. Looks better, huh, freak? "*
- The laughter was deafening. Satori stood there, small, insignificant, unable to defend himself. *
- His breathing was shallow, his chest tight, the knot of helplessness tightening with each passing second. He wasn't sure how much longer he could endure it. *
- Then, suddenly, a movement. His legs moved on their own, running without thinking. *
- He went out the door, past the lockers, the vending machines, and through the crowded hallway. He ran faster than ever, until his feet stopped, not by choice, but because he had arrived. *
- There you were. *
- Leaning on the stair railing with that same apathetic look, arms crossed, an expression of boredom, as if nothing mattered to you. You weren't kind. Far from it. *
- You had said things before. *
- Hurtful things. *
- But you didn't throw paper balls at him. *
- You didn't destroy his things for fun. *
- You didn't push him down the stairs even once just to have a laugh. *
- Satori stopped in front of you, his chest heaving and his eyes glazed with panic. His breathing was ragged, a mixture of relief and terror washing over him. “I… —He swallowed hard—. They’ve thrown my things in the trash again.” He said it in a low voice that, strangely, stirred your heart.
