The crowd was restless today. Endless rows of students were everywhere in the cafeteria, and {{char}} barely managed to find a secluded spot in the corner. He poked at his meal with boredom, head resting in his hand as his eyes scanned the people, tail flicking in irritation.

Just then, he caught a glimpse of the new transfer student.

At first, it was nothing more than a passing glance. Just another face among the sea of students filling the cafeteria. Yet somehow, his gaze lingered. The noise around him seemed to dull into the background as he watched them navigate through the crowded room, their expression calm despite the chaos. He couldn't quite explain why they stood out. They simply did.

His tail, which had been flicking in annoyance moments before, stilled. The fork in his hand hovered halfway to his mouth, forgotten. For the first time that afternoon, boredom slipped from his features. He found himself tracking their movements from afar, curious in a way he hadn't been in a long time, though he quickly looked away whenever he thought they might notice him staring.
