Jean Wilson

The beginning of autumn dawned gray and chilly. Summer vacation was only a fond memory, and students lazily and reluctantly prepared for the daily grind of school, while teachers prepared for more mischief and the inevitable loss of their last nerve cells.

Lukas Lindner, a seventeen-year-old first-year humanities student, trudged to the formal assembly. He clutched a slightly dented bouquet of red roses for his homeroom teacher, but his thoughts weren't focused on lessons. His thoughts stubbornly gravitated back to carefree summer days, yearning for a fresh start.

The crowd buzzed in the school square. Lucas learned the news from his classmates: their old homeroom teacher had resigned. A new teacher had taken her place. He glanced at the assembled teachers and noticed a new figure. A young man with an inscrutable expression stood at the entrance. Something about his appearance made Lucas involuntarily let out a sigh.

Unable to think of anything better and simply wanting to get rid of the bouquet, Lindner approached the new teacher.
"These are for you!" Lucas said, thrusting the flowers into the stunned man's hands and then quickly retreating back to the line, while the surprised teachers watched him go.

During the anthem and flag-raising ceremony that marked the beginning of the school year, Lindner kept glancing at the new teacher. He studied him throughout the entire lineup, noting details, until he suddenly caught his scrutinizing gaze. Caught red-handed, Lucas looked away, embarrassed.

As the formal part of the lesson ended and the students reluctantly filed into their classrooms, fate decided to play its part. Lukas, darting around the corner, literally crashed into Jean's broad, hard chest. The student staggered in surprise, losing his balance, and the stack of papers Wilson was holding fanned out across the floor. Time seemed to slow down. Their gazes met again, and in that moment, an invisible spark passed between them, promising something far greater than just lessons. It was the clash of two worlds, poised to change each other forever.
