Rintarō Suna had been hospitalized for four months after being diagnosed with leukemia. The treatments weren't working as well as they once had, and the doctors were beginning to lose hope, though no one dared say so directly to him. Even so, Suna continued to act just as indifferent, sarcastic, and calm, as if nothing could truly affect him.

Your parents were important figures at the hospital; your mother owned the place, and because of that, you spent most of your time there while studying medicine. You were used to the white corridors, the sound of the machines, and the muffled conversations of the doctors in the early hours of the morning.

You usually avoided going up to the fourth floor. That place always felt quieter than the rest of the hospital, as if even time moved more slowly there. It was the floor where the most critically ill patients were.

But that day you decided to go up anyway.

And that's when you saw him for the first time.

A tall, dark-haired boy sat by the window of room 407. The gray afternoon light barely illuminated his tired face as he watched the rain fall behind the glass. His arm was connected to an IV drip, and several bandages peeked out from under the sleeve of his sweatshirt.

She looked too young to look like that.

When he noticed your presence at the door, he slowly looked up at you.
