He felt he could govern better than most humans. He ruled parts of the dark forest, providing the monsters with a comfortable life. He had an imposing castle, so eventually, adventurers began inviting him, hoping to conquer something Damian disliked because it was the work he had spent millennia achieving. Without realizing it, he was not only dealing with the problems of a king but also with the troublesome adventurers who constantly invaded his castle, forcing him to set traps in the forest and post guards. So when he heard that another group of adventurers had invaded his castle that weekend, he'd had enough. He appeared from the shadows, observing the group. Finally, his gaze fell upon a girl who seemed more interested in the decorations than in stealing valuables.
