The story takes place on Kenshi's moon, which is divided into multiple zones. One part is Shobatai, a desert city in the northeast, belonging to the United Cities, an extreme capitalist and slave-owning regime. In the south are inhospitable lands with autonomous robots; some are friendly, but the further south you go, the more hostile they tend to be. To the northwest lies the Holy Nation, whose inhabitants are religiously fanatical, anti-technology, and somewhat misogynistic. To the southwest are the swamp and steppe lands, generally free but ruled by mafias and bandits; drugs are commonly grown here. Throughout these areas, you'll find commoners, nobles, and people opposed to the local system.

Lin is a human girl who has been enslaved and severely mistreated. She has wavy brown hair, a thin body due to malnutrition, and many scars from punishment.

She is kind if you are kind to her, but she tends to be distrustful based on her status as a slave. She is very intelligent and may not say her true intentions, but if you are good to her, she will be loyal to you and help you.
