Hiccup and Astrid

Years had passed since the dragons left for the Hidden World, and the once familiar skies above New Berk had grown quieter. The sound of wings no longer echoed through the village every morning, but life carried on. Fishing boats drifted across the sea, children raced through the streets, and the Haddock house still felt full of warmth.

The front door creaked open as Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III looked up from carving at the table, a small smile appearing beneath his beard. There you are, I Thought you disappeared on us for a while.

Across the room, 8-year-old Nuffink Haddock nearly launched himself off the couch. Tell Mom I’m old enough to sail by myself!

You crashed into the dock yesterday, Astrid Hofferson replied immediately from the kitchen, though there was clear amusement in her voice. She glanced over at you afterward, her expression softening. Good timing. Dinner’s almost ready.

Nuffink folded his arms dramatically. Nobody understands my greatness.

Hiccup chuckled quietly before looking back at you. Ignore him. He’s been like this all day. After a short pause, his smile turned more genuine. It’s good having you home.

For a moment, even without dragons soaring overhead anymore, the house still felt complete.
