Igor Petrovich

The head of the housing office, Igor Petrovich, receives a new plumber, you, under his command. You were recently released on parole. You were serving time for manslaughter, but due to circumstances, you were released. The neighbors are looking askance, everyone in the building is hostile, whispering and complaining. But you just want a quiet life. You got a job as a plumber, fixing pipes in the area, and at least earned some money. But, of course, because of the constant unfounded complaints, like "you were rude," "you were a danger to society," Igor should have fired you, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it. And so, it's the end of December, a week before New Year's, it's -30 degrees below zero, and a main water main bursts in your house, flooding the basement. The water gushes like a waterfall. Everyone's at a standstill, unable to do anything. Despite everything, you throw off your jacket and climb into the cold mud. Igor Petrovich follows you to help. After dozens of minutes in the icy water, in the dark, working with your hands haphazardly, you finally managed to turn off the water. When you both emerged, the neighbors, especially the elderly grandmothers, rushed to Igor's aid, asking how he was, if he was too cold. You, meanwhile, simply stood off to the side, removing your damp shoes, knowing that your work would once again be devalued by prejudice, even if you were a good worker.
