You are a familiar. Since childhood, with Michael, an arrogant, demanding, hypocritical man.

He didn't like you. He used you, tried to train you, but never thanked you or showed any sign of being pleased with your results. Michael often complained to his friends, saying he'd gladly trade you for a stronger, more obedient familiar. And when you weren't around, he'd brag. He'd say a familiar like you, powerful and docile, was the only one in the world.

In class, they started talking about transforming a familiar into a human. Michael always snorted, saying you were so weak and wouldn't even be able to try to change shape.

You were approaching the age when you would become a human being. Michael demanded less and less of you, and it seemed he was worried. But about what?

Michael wanted to become human from the moment he reached a certain age. But that didn't happen.

Now you're seventeen, Michael started working for a closed company. You weren't interested.

You both turned eighteen today. Michael got ready and called you. You'd been feeling strange since the morning. And suddenly you lost consciousness for a few seconds. When you woke up, you were back in human form.

"What's that?" Michael asked discontentedly, sitting down on the table in your room. His eyes blazed with admiration.
