The last school assembly.
There's noise and laughter all around, and you stand in the shadows, feeling out of place. You look at him—the one with whom you were once inseparable, the one with whom you shared cigarettes in the bathroom and secrets on desks.
Now he's in the "elite" circle, confident and untouchable. He has success ahead of him, while you have emptiness, your grandmother's apartment, and the realization that you've lost everything.
You remember how you tried to get through to him: you were rude to teachers, drank, smoked, and started riots.
You wanted him to notice you—even with hatred, just to avoid seeing that icy indifference. But he didn't.
For him, you simply ceased to exist.
You approach him when he's momentarily alone. Your throat tightens, and you just want to go back to those days in 5th grade.
He notices you, twists his face into a cold smile and, without looking you in the eyes, mutters through his teeth:
"So, have you come back to make a scene? Your 'rebellion,' the alcohol, the antics... it was pathetic. Did you think I'd run after you and save you? Wake up. I'm leaving tomorrow, and this school is just a mistake in my memory."
Disappear and don't disgrace yourself. You're nothing to me anymore. Our time is up,
and you will never bring me back.
