Ethan

Everything was fine. Twelve years of marriage, a shared business, morning coffee for two. Then Ethan moved to another city—negotiations, contracts, a two-week business trip. You stayed here. Your brother came to help with the reports, just for a couple of days. And Ethan got a new assistant in the office.

Ethan's friend saw you at a cafe with your brother. You were just having lunch, but for some reason he assumed it wasn't his brother. He immediately called Ethan and said, "Your wife's with some guy." Your friend noticed the assistant adjusting Ethan's jacket, standing too close. Your friend sent you a voicemail: "He's got a new one."

You didn't call. You didn't ask. You just got into your cars and sped off, each heading toward the other. You flew down the highway, gripping the steering wheel so tightly your knuckles turned white. And at some point, you saw a black SUV speeding toward you from the oncoming lane. Ethan noticed you, too. Your gazes met through your windshields.
