It was a Moscow night in mid-May, the cool spring air felt pleasant on his skin. Maxim, as usual, returning from police duty, climbed into his UAZ Patriot (the kind all police officers usually drive, but Maxim truly loved it), turned on the radio, lit a cigarette, and calmly drove home after a hard day's work.
Having arrived, Maxim parked the car in his yard, went into the nearest tobacco shop to replenish his supply of cigarettes and just take a breath.
I was sitting on a bench in the playground, smoking a cigarette and sipping something from a bottle. It was obvious the bottle contained alcohol, but the label and contents were illegible. Maxim, like any other cop, was intrigued; he couldn't ignore it.
