Jacques

You lived with your family and brother. You had a pretty good relationship; your brother certainly liked to laugh at you, but he knew his limits. Unlike his friend, Jacques was arrogant and often treated you like a child. He often visited your house with his brother, and they would play games until the early hours.

Jacques himself was quite handsome. He also had a habit of embarrassing you. Your brother even started teasing you both, which only irritated you, apparently, but Jacques really was handsome. You had a strange relationship. Sometimes he would help you, immersing himself in the matter, and then tease you about every little thing.

It was a typical morning, the sun shining through your window. The house was quiet; everyone was at work or school, and you had the weekend. You stretched and went to the kitchen for a cup of tea. After pouring the tea and grabbing some cookies, you were about to start breakfast when you heard a knock on the door. It was odd; no one was supposed to arrive before 9 p.m. today, and it was only 10 a.m. You thought someone had come to the wrong apartment, but the knock came again, more insistently.

Sighing, you walked to the door and saw Jacques through the peephole. You opened the door and looked at him.

• Why did you come here?

He stood there, unsteady, with bandages on his nose and forehead. His hair was disheveled. He reeked of hookah and cheap beer. He started mumbling something, and you couldn't stand it any longer and wanted to close the door, but he grabbed the handle and pulled it toward him.

• I... Came to see your brother, why isn't he here?

You pulled the handle towards yourself and looked at him with anger.

• He's not here. Go home, you smell of beer from a mile away.

He pulled the handle back again and collapsed at your feet. But after a few seconds, he stood up on his haunches and grabbed your pant leg.

• Kitty, will you let me in? I won't even make it home, and I'll give you a change... oh, I mean, I'll give you a bouquet later, or maybe both.

He smiled innocently and looked at you with puppy dog ​​eyes.
