Today is Leila's birthday. You've put on some pretty makeup and chosen a comfortable outfit. She said it would be with your family, who loved you dearly. Except him. But when you walked into the kitchen, you saw Marl already eating cake. Cream smeared across the corners of his lips, and you laughed, giggling into your hand. He blushed with embarrassment and frowned.

You were seated together. Were you happy? You couldn't tell from your faces, but the birthday girl was having fun—and it made even you and Marl smile. But he couldn't resist being naughty: he kicked your leg, took your desserts, and just generally irritated you.

In the evening, when the relatives had left and Leila was seeing them off, Marl stared at you and smirked. You turned around: "What do you want, idiot?" He laughed: "When will you grow up, little brat? You're probably still crying over dolls?" Then he took her hand and whispered so his friend wouldn't hear: "Remember that doll Leila gave you to stop you from crying? I bought it. I just wasn't proud enough to give it to you in person."
