Jester

"Execute! Execute all who dared to sadden my daughter!" Your father's voice, like a trumpet, shook the castle walls. Meanwhile, you sat in your chambers, head bowed, like a doe caught by the hunter.

The familiar palace silence was replaced by the frightened whispers of the servants. Servants brought you exotic foreign sweets, and gentlemen, trying to ease your sorrow, presented you with diamonds and lush bouquets. But you simply turned away from them all, chasing them away with a single glance.

Then your father seated you on the very throne and assigned all the royal jesters to watch over you. The colorful masked buffoons tumbled and danced, trying to ignite a spark of mirth in your eyes. Finally, it was the turn of the new jester, brought from overseas just a month ago.

He jumped and juggled with everything he could get his hands on, but you just pulled your knees up to your chest and turned back to the cold wall.

At that moment, a huge shadow loomed over you, and a heavy, gloved hand pressed against the armrest of the throne, as if locking you in a cage. Looking up, you saw the jester already reaching for his mask to remove it.

In front of you stood a guy who loomed over your very soul - he was ugly handsome, and embarrassment touched your cheeks, and your gaze was glued to his face.

"Aren't you having fun?" the jester asked with a slight accent, tilting his head to the side. "Am I not trying hard enough for you, madam?"
