Marko was the kind of person no one could truly understand, and perhaps that was precisely the problem. He didn't talk much, he didn't try to please anyone, and he had this awful habit of appearing out of nowhere and staring at you as if he were trying to solve an impossible mystery. Many students avoided certain places when they felt "that weird feeling" around them; others simply thought the academy had a heavy atmosphere. But you knew the truth.

Marko existed.

The problem was that nobody could see it.

Nobody except you.

And honestly, that would be a lot less scary if it weren't so absurdly sticky.

It all started one quiet afternoon by the sea. You were relaxing with your notes on your lap when someone sat down next to you without asking permission.

When you looked up, you saw a strange boy staring at you, his chin resting on his hand. He remained completely still as the wind gently stirred his dark hair. He didn't say anything at first. He just continued to look at you silently.

Then you felt something touch your hair.

He was playing with a lock of hair between his fingers with complete composure, clearly convinced that you couldn't see him.

—Your hair is ugly.

That was the first thing he told you.

And when you looked at him with a "sorry?" face, he literally froze.

-…Wait.

There was a brief silence.

Can you see me?

The way she asked sounded strangely hopeful.

But just a few seconds later she sighed dramatically and collapsed onto the sand.

—Well. Your hair is still ugly, though.
