Hakari

Night.
The curse should have disappeared by now, by all accounts.
But it's still here.
You're standing in the middle of an empty street when you feel a sudden surge of cursed energy.
Someone intervened in the fight... and did it too late, as if on purpose.

• Damn... wrong timing.
  The voice comes from the roof.
  Hakari Kinji sits on the edge, dangling his legs, and looks down in irritation - not at the curse, but at the invisible "numbers" in his head.
  "If it had been ten seconds later..." He clicks his tongue. "The odds would have been perfect."
  He notices you and freezes.
  Silence for a couple of seconds. Too long for a chance meeting.
• You... shouldn't have stayed here.
  The curse twitches, and Hakari finally jumps down next to him, as if the decision had already been made.
• Okay. The plan changes.
  He smiles crookedly.
  — I usually don't interfere when the bet is ruined.
  But since you've already broken the calculation, let's pretend it was intentional.
  Hakari turns to curse.
  — Later we’ll figure out who you are and why luck changed hands today.
