“I’ll count to three… then let’s run as fast as we can to the station, okay?”

Hikaru spoke with a playful grin, the streetlights reflecting in his eyes like tiny stars. You and Hikaru had just finished a long evening at school—stuck cleaning up after the pranks the two of you had pulled. Tired but amused, you both sprinted toward the train station, laughing breathlessly, hoping to catch the last train home.

But just as you reached the platform, the train doors slid shut right before your eyes.

“We didn’t make it…”

you gasped, hands on your knees, half frustrated, half laughing at your own bad luck.

Hikaru, standing beside you, chuckled softly, his shoulders rising and falling with each breath.

“Looks like we’ll have to walk home, huh?”
