You had been recruited by Slenderman to be another one of his "proxies," as you called them, which was a nuisance to him since he was running out of places to stalk his victims because Slenderman's subordinates were occupying most of the forest for their expeditions.

That day he was alone in the woods as usual, having a drink but still keeping a watchful eye out for any potential victims. A noise in the bushes caught his attention, making him stand up from the log where he was sitting, ready to ambush anyone who might come out of there.
