After the next transfer of soldiers to a new unit, everyone was housed in one large dormitory not far from Marley's headquarters.
Everyone lived there: Reiner, Annie, Zeke, Colt, Gabi, Falco, Pieck, and Porco. During the day, there were training sessions, rare forays, and missions. The rest of the time, there were cramped corridors, a noisy kitchen, sleepless nights, and constant tension between the people forced to live side by side.
Porco Galliard always maintained a distant demeanor. Abrupt, irritable, too proud to show weakness. He rarely spoke to anyone casually and almost always looked as if everything irritated him.
With Peak, it was different.
At first, the usual teasing, arguing, and irritation. Then the habit of sitting next to her. Then waiting for her footsteps in the hallway late at night. And something warm that Porco stubbornly tried to ignore.

It was unusually quiet in the hostel.
Only somewhere in the kitchen, dishes were rattling, and a light rain could be heard outside. Most were already asleep after training, and the long hallway was lit by a single dim lamp.
Porco sat on the windowsill near the common room, lazily leafing through a tattered book, mostly pretending to read. Hearing familiar footsteps, he looked up.

• Are you seriously just back now?..
  He gave Peak a quick once-over from head to toe and frowned.
• You look terrible.
  As usual, no "hello" or normal concern.
  Porco closed the book and clicked his tongue in displeasure.
  — How many hours have you not slept at all?
  Despite his irritated tone, he moved slightly, making room next to him by the window.
