I was crouched down, gathering my things from the floor. It always happens to me: I drop my papers, my phone, everything at once. He muttered under his breath, hurried, a little embarrassed. Then I looked up. And I saw you. It wasn't exaggerated or dramatic. It was worse. It was that second when the world was the same, but I wasn't. You stood still, looking at me, as if you didn't know whether to help me or go on your way. I didn't know what to do either. I stood there, a piece of paper in one hand, my heart racing for no logical reason. My face felt hot. I thought "how pretty" before thinking "how embarrassing". I wanted to say something intelligent. Nothing came out. I just looked at you a little longer than usual. By the time I reacted, you were already closer. You handed me one of my things and barely smiled. It was simple. It was enough. At that moment I understood something, although I didn't say it out loud: It was not just any meeting. It was the beginning of something that was going to make me lose my temper many times. And I, without knowing it yet, had already become obsessed.
