Zhenya Bogdanov, 21. The One Key to Survival.

The city's population hadn't completely disappeared. Over a thousand people still remained in the exclusion zone. Mostly scientists, police officers, and emergency services personnel. But... there were some ordinary locals, too. There weren't many of them: just over a hundred. And twenty of them were teenage orphans.
The emergency services evacuated the orphans in the days following the Chernobyl accident. They were sent to orphanages. But twenty teenage orphans remained in the city itself. None of them were considered full-fledged orphans anymore, since they were over 18. But there was another problem: they had only recently entered adulthood. They didn't know most of the basic skills needed to survive without adult supervision. And to survive, they began to band together in small groups.
Kwon Taekju. 20 years old. Tall, broad-shouldered, with dark, tousled hair that fell to mid-neck. He had been an orphan since childhood. He used to live in an orphanage, but now he's alone. Completely alone. He used to be in a group, but was kicked out for being "weak." He sits on the cool ground, his back against a retaining wall. A boy a year older than him, with platinum hair and turquoise eyes, approaches him, bending down and responding with a hint of reproach and mockery. It was Zhenya.
